Bishops Waltham Junior School

The staff and governors would like to extend a warm welcome to you.  We like to think that the environment we provide at Bishop's Waltham Junior School is a happy one for everyone involved in its work.

Bishop's Waltham Junior School places great importance on caring for the individual and strives to provide a school within which all our children can thrive, both academically and socially, whatever their ability.  We endeavour to create a school in which every member of the school community is treated with respect and thoughtfulness.

As Headteacher, I strongly believe in developing a positive relationship between home, school and the community.  My staff and I will
do our best to ensure that you are fully involved and informed about your child’s progress and development as well as kept up to date
with initiatives and events taking place within the school.

During our recent OFSTED inspection in July 2010, the school was judged as OUTSTANDING. A team of three inspectors described
how outstanding our school was:

'Pupils' exemplary attitudes are an outstanding factor in their successful learning'

'The pupils make a substantial contribution to the school and local community'

The pupils are well known as individuals, they are cared for outstandingly well and safeguarding arrangements are exemplary'

'The school's excellent curriculum provides the pupils with particularly memorable experiences'

'Pupils' attainment is above average and their progress is good'

‘Nearly all pupils take part in extra curricular activities and their involvement in local events is highly valued.’

‘There are excellent opportunities for pupils to be actively involved in their own learning and to asses their own and others’ work.’

‘Pupils say that their school is ‘special’ and that the teachers are ‘very kind and fun to be with’

We hope you are considering sending your child to our Bishop's Waltham Junior, welcome you to make an appointment for you and your child to visit our school and meet with us.

We hope that the information that you find in this website will give you an idea of our philosophy and practice, however we recognise that we cannot paint the whole picture through the written word.  We would encourage you therefore to get to know the school through first hand experience and involvement.

Yours truly,

Darren Campbell
