Sport Fixtures and Results

At Bishops Waltham we recognise the the role competitive sport can play in building the whole person. Losing well is a skill best learnt early and learnt well. Competitive sport is the perfect place to develop this skill. Engraining good sportsmanship early can ensure children carry these good practices across every aspect of their lives and into their adulthood. Equally as important is teaching students to win gracefully. Team sports build camaraderie and  teamwork.

We run intra-school competitions in rugby, basketball, cricket throughout the year and we enter Inter-school competitions when available. Children from Key Stage 1 took part in the KS1 cross country race at Botley with other schools. We were very proud that several children placed highly in their race.

In the Summer term we hold a whole school sports day. The children work in mixed ability groups in their classes and rotate around a range of activities including an obstacle course, races, dancing, football and many more. Parents are invited and encourage the children to join in and achieve their best. Each class has a winning team and a sportsmanship award given to a member of each class.
