The key to times tables is being able to count in steps of different numbers. In Year 2, you should be able to count in 2s, 5s, 10s, and 3s. Can you do this? Use the video below to remind you how to count in 3s. Keep practising!

Multiplication is repeated addition. This means that 3+3+3+3 is the number 3, 4 times. This means it is 3 x (times) 4. Sometimes we see multiplication as groups or lots. 3x4 could be shown as 3 groups with 4 in each group or 4 groups with 3 in each group. Print and cut out the pictures below. Match the pictures with the words or number sentences.
