This week we will be practising saying 1 more than a given number and forming ours numbers correctly.

    1 more

Children should see the link that one more than a number is the next number they say when they are counting.

Books where there is one more object on each page are particularly useful in finding one more. Some traditional tales lend themselves to this such as The Enormous Turnip  and The Gingerbread Man.

    Number Formation

We would like you to practise writing your numbers correctly.

There are lots of ways to practise number formation.

    • paint brush and water on a wall or patio
    • painting the numbers
    • using chalk or felt tips
    • using a finger in a tray of sand, shaving foam or flour
    • using different coloured paper or on large pieces of paper
    • children to skywrite numbers in the air
