In Phonics, most of us are recapping all of our phonic sounds. Please see the English link below which will give you information about reading and phonics in our school. Most Year 2 children are in Phase 5 or 6.
All of us can read all of the phonic sounds when we see them but some of us still need a little practise applying this when reading words. The best thing for this is to read a variety of books.
We are also learning which phonic sound to use when spelling because there are lots of spellings of the same sound. For example, ay (play), ai (snail) and a_e (bake) all make the same sound but look different. We have been learning which ones go with which words and where we see them in the word.
Some of us are already really brilliant at doing this and are learning about adverbs.
Below are worksheets for you to look at. Make sure you check and see if the worksheet is a good one for you or if it is too easy/tricky. There are also some links to online books and phonics games.
For Phonics Play, please use the username and password specified when you click on the link. This will give you access to all games for free.
For Oxford Owl you will need an adult to set up an account. This takes 2 minutes and then gives you access to thousands of online books that you can read or watch somebody read so definitely worth it!
