Maths

The National Curriculum says the children should be able to count to 100 by the end of Year 1.

They should be able to count forwards and backwards from any number up to 100.

Please practise counting whenever you can!

An important part of the children's number knowledge is to recall number bonds up to 10.

Number Bonds are all the pairs of number which make a given number like this:-

Below is a power point with more information and activities to help your child understand and learn their number bonds.

We also learn to count in :-

  • 2s - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10...
  • 5s - 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30...
  • 10s - 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 ...

Children need to recognise money, starting with the coins.

In the first time we learn to tell the o'clock time. You can practise telling the time this at home!
