Week 2

This week we will be designing our wheeled vehicles. We will also be experimenting with different materials and their properties to work out which materials would be best to use on our vehicles, depending on the rescue environment they will be used in. 

In Phonics, we will be learning the following sounds:

dge (bridge)

silent b and g (numb, gnaw)

silent k (know)

silent t (listen)

Visit on Bugclub and look out for these sounds in your reading.

During Maths, we will be looking at adding. We will be learning how to add 3 1-digit numbers, a 2-digit number and tens, a 2-digit number and ones and 2 2-digit numbers - a busy week ahead! There will be plenty of opportunities for problem solving and reasoning, too. 

In English, we will be writing our very own newspaper reports based on a rescue mission that we find in the playground! Photos of this will be on Tapestry next week! We will be encouraging the children to write independently, using full stops and capital letters.
