British Values

        At Bishops Waltham Infants School, we embed the four fundamental British Values;

        DEMOCRACY

Everyone is treated equally and has equal rights.

  • I have opportunities to develop self-confidence and self-awareness, to make choices and decisions about what I want to explore and how I want to play.
  • I have the opportunity to share, take turns, collaborate and make decisions together.
  • I am allowed to negotiate, help set rules and trust other children to stick to these rules.

    MUTUAL RESPECT AND TOLERANCE
Where we learn to treat others as we want to be treated.
  • I am encouraged to join in and be part of the wider community.
  • I am given the skills to manage my own feelings and behaviour.
  • I am helped to form relationships with others.
  • I am given opportunities to find out about, appreciate and respect my own culture and the culture of others.

    INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY
Children's self-confidence and self-awareness and people and communities.
  • I am helped and encouraged to develop a positive sense of myself.
  • I am helped to develop my self-knowledge, self-esteem and increase my confidence in my own abilities.
  • I have the chance to explore the language of feelings and responsibility, reflect on their differences and understand that we are all free to have different opinions.

    RULE OF LAW
    An understanding that rules matter.
  • I am given the skills to manage my own feelings and behaviour.
  • I know right from wrong
  • I behave in a way that reflects the agreed boundaries and rules.
I am able to deal with the consequences of my behaviour.
