Week 4 11.10.21

Dear Parents and Carers

We have now reached the final week of our 'Project Power' project. The children have really enjoyed the activities especially the outside learning ones.

This week we have our project outcome on Thursday 14th October at 2.30pm. Please come to the early Year's gates and continue round to the main playground. The children will be waiting for you to guide you round the activities they need to complete to gain their Bishops Waltham Superstar Learner certificate.  The outcome will finish promptly at 3.00pm to allow the children to collect their belongings and get ready for clubs. We look forward to seeing you there!

In this final week the children will reviewing their achievements and the goals they set themselves at the beginning of the project and setting a new one for the future. They will be using different formats to show what they have learnt including bubble diagrams and speech bubbles, writing in sentences with a capital letter and full stop.

Our phonic sounds this week are as follows:-

-ow   as in brown cow

-or     as in shut the door

-oi      as in spoil the boy

-ur    as in nurse with a purse

Please help your child find these sounds in their home reading books.

In Maths the children will be learning to read o'clock times on an analogue clock. Please look at clocks you have at home and practise telling the o'clock times.

Don't forget it is Harvest Festival on Monday and the children can bring in canned or dried food. The collection point will be in the turning circle at the front of the school.

Have a lovely week.

Kind regards

The Year 1 Team
