PART 2

This week we are continuing our newspaper report.  We are planning and writing up our report.

Use this news report template if you are doing this at home (we will keep yours safe in school and put it all back together when you come back)

Have a go at role playing life in 1666. Pretend to be a citizen of the city of London during the great fire.

After you have role played being in London during the Great Fire of London you can write up your eye witness account. It needs to include the eye witnesses name, age, where they live and what they may have said.

Now we will complete box one of our box it up sheet.

This box will help you write your first paragraph.

You need to include what happened during the fire and why it happened.  Try and add more or different detail to what you included in your introduction last week.

Use your Fire Fire bookmark and key word sheet you have at home.

Don't forget to include full stops and capital letters and really interesting vocabulary.

If you want to say the fire is big, don't say big use the best word you can think of...huge, gigantic, enormous are much better choices.  Remember though, this is your plan, not your news report.  This can be written in note form.

Now we will complete box three (paragraph 2) about how they out the fire out in 1666.

Have a good think about what equipment was used.  We made a single bubble in our project books last week listing all of these things, so think back to what was on it to help you.

Use your Fire Fire bookmark and key word sheet you have at home.

Don't forget to include full stops and capital letters and really interesting vocabulary.

If you want to say the fire is big, don't say big use the best word you can think of...huge, gigantic, enormous are much better choices.

Again remember this is your plan, not your news report.  This can be written in note form.

Now is the time to write your news report.

Time to show how much you know and how clever you are at using your plan (box it up sheet) to help you write a good piece of text.  Your news report needs to go in the order of the plan.

Your first paragraph will come after the introduction that you have already written.  Next you will include your eyewitness quote.  Then add paragraph two about how the fire was put out.

Finally there will be an empty box called the ending.  This is your chance to ask a question about what will happen next to the city of London.  Here are some examples of sentences you could finish with...

"What will happen next to the capital city of London?"

"The city will need stronger buildings and wider streets."

"What next for the city of London?  Lord Bloodworth will need to make a plan to rebuild a stronger city."
