This week we will be looking at poetry about sunflowers.

Here are some poem examples.

Here are some questions about the poems above.

Which is your favourite poem? why?

Are there any words you liked that you want to use in your poem?

Are all the poems the same? What is the same and what is different?

What is a simile?

A simile describes something by comparing it to something else , using like or as:

  •  The snake moved like a ripple on a pond.
  •  It was as slippery as an eel.
  •  Jess is as graceful as a gazelle.
Can you finish the similes by matching them to the correct ending?

Can you find the similes in our Sunflower Poem? Can you think of different adjectives (describing words) for each of the similes?

Below you will find the poem pages for you to type onto or print.
