Addition
We will begin the week with recapping the + and = symbols, what they mean and the different names we know for them. Then we will be moving onto adding 3 1-digit numbers (eg. 6 + 2 + 3 =) a 2-digit number and ones (eg. 34 + 5 =) and a 2-digit number and tens (eg. 63 + 10, 34 + 30).
We will use resources, pictures, our fingers, and counting on to work out the answers. We are aiming to use an unstructured number line by the end of the week to add a variety of numbers.
We have looked at unstructured number lines before. Look at the pictures below to remind you what they are. You need to draw the line yourself, choose the biggest number in your addition number sentence and add the smaller number on by jumping. You don't need to write all of the numbers on; just the number you start with and the numbers beneath the jumps as you go.
