Diary Entry:

Every week we would like you to write a diary entry in your exercise book we gave you about something you have done at home. We look forward to reading them when you are back.

You could ask your grown up to photograph your writing and send it to your teacher via email or on the blog. The teachers will be sharing what they have been up to on the blog.

This weeks Task:

The Pig in The Pond by Martin Waddell

Pigs don't swim, or so it's said. But on one of the hottest days of the summer, the pig on Neligan's farm sits by the pond feeling envious of the ducks and the geese floating in the cool water. Finally, when she can endure the heat no longer—splash!—this sweltering pig takes a dive, throwing the entire farm into an uproar. It isn't long, however, before the refreshing idea catches on, and the pig finds that she's got company!

This is a link to our video resources page, where Mrs Wombell is reading the story of The Pig in The Pond.

Your task this week is to read or listen to the story and create a story hill of your own. You will change the story slightly by choosing your own animal to jump into the pond. You can also change the name of the Farmer. You may want to use your own name instead of Neligan.

You might also want to think about the animals that are on the pond. You can choose to change these if you wish.

Mrs Wombell has created her own story hill below. She has a cow and Farmer Brian in her story. She also changed the geese to a frog.

Reading:

Remember to read at least 3 times a week.

Phonics:

Use the Phonic Sheets we have sent home or the PowerPoint to practice saying all the Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds we have learnt in school. How many have you got correct?

To help decide which phonic activities are appropriate for your child ask them whose Phonic group they are in.

If they are with Miss Turner, Miss Campbell or Mrs Atkinson then they need to select the Phase 3 Activities.

If they are with Mrs Wombell, Mrs Anderson or Miss Meek then they need to select the Phase 2 Activities.

Hope this helps smiley
