Phonics
It's ALIEN week for phonics this week! Our focus is children using their phonic knowledge to read made up words. As the words are made up, it is impossible to use any other method to read them so children are really having to sound out and blend. Our live lessons this week are Obb and Bob which is on the PhonicsPlay website on Thursday and a spelling test on Friday! You will need the pictures of Obb and Bob for Thursday and Friday's phonics sessions.
We are continuing to learn the Year 1 spellings and will add new words each week. Don't forget to check that your children are spelling them independently in their everyday writing!
Monday - circle the words with the correct spelling
Tuesday - Aliens - read their names
Wednesday - Aliens - name them
Thursday - Obb and Bob game
Friday - Obb and Bob - split e sort and spelling test

You can help your child practise spellings in fun ways:-
- try writing them on a wall with a paintbrush and water
- make the words with sticks, playdough or lego
- write them in a tray of sand, shaving foam or flour
- make a snap or pairs game to play together
