Week 4

This week Year 2 will be finding out a little more about the Battle of Trafalgar.  The children will learn how Admiral Lord Nelson used a clever strategy to win the battle called ‘The Nelson’s Touch’.  In English they will using effective language and adverbs to write a story. The story of ‘The Queen’s Hat’ will be used to help model a repetitive structure and we will be looking at effective story openers.

Maths this week will focus on money – we will be making the same amount with different combinations of coins and finding change.  Reasoning will also be happening across the week.

This week we are testing the children on their spelling of Year 1 and 2 common exception words.  These will be tested across the week. The children will received their new spellings on Friday to practice for the following Friday’s test.

We will continue following Trick Box across the week and hope the children have enjoyed sharing their thoughts on Mirror Mirror at home.

We will also be identifying ways we find out about the past and different ways it can be presented. We will be looking at artefacts from HMS Victory closely and sketching them.

Our PE day is currently a Tuesday.  Don’t forget to send your child in full PE kit on that day.
