Week 1

To kick off our new project Fire Fire! we have teamed up with the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.  This year we are working virtually with the team and will be learning about keeping safe. 

We will learn rhymes, sing songs and learn some safety rules in a fun way.

We start our project with this hook to reassure children that although fire can be dangerous, we are very fortunate to have a well equipped service to get to fires quickly and put them out.  Unfortunately this was not the case back in 1666 which we will learn about later in the week. 

We will be making our own posters about fire safety in Literacy this week. In Maths we will be looking at the adding symbol. We will be learning our number bonds to 10 in lots of different interactive ways and we will be adding 2 1-digit numbers together. There will also be opportunities for problem solving and reasoning. During our project times, we will be learning about The Great Fire of London in History and creating Great Fire of London pastel work in Art.
