Project

Art is a lead subject in our project Fire Fire and this week we will continue to sketch the buildings from London during the 17th century.

First we will look at lots of different art work portraying what the fire was like.  We will study the pictures, looking closely at the detail of the buildings and the size of the fire and smoke.

Then we will have a go at sketching our own version of what we imagine London would have been like, adding the detail of the buildings and emphasising the size of the flames.

Next we will add colour to our sketches, using oil pastels. We will learn how to blend the colours yellow, orange and red to make an effective fire.

Once you have read Samuel Pepys' diary can you colour in the key and areas showing how the fire spread day by day? Can you find the locations that Samuel Pepys' mentions on the map?
