Week 5

Dear Parents and Carers

We are really enjoying learning outside and finding all the different plants growing in our grounds. This week Hampshire County Council are inspecting the trees in the playground and some might be cut down. The children are going to find out how important trees are in the environment and create posters to 'Save Our Trees'.

In science we are continuing to observe our bean seeds and recording what we see in our Bean Diaries. The beans are growing really fast! We will find out how the cress have grown in all the different places - in the fridge, in the dark, in water etc

In maths we are learning to measure in centimetres using a ruler.

In art we are learning how to paint flowers and leaves.

We have also started Scooter Safety training. The children are loving this. So far we have practised walking with a scooter, why we wear helmets, how to slow down and break and finally pushing off and gliding. Great fun!

We would like to remind you that we are uploading 2/3 pieces of learning on to Tapestry every week so please take a look and leave a 'like' or comment.

Don't forget to log on to Bug Club for more books for your children to read in their Book Band Colour. We read these in class and the children love the quizzes and the variety of books and stories. Here is the link:-

If you have trouble logging in please let us know.

Please remember the children have spellings every week and we test on Fridays. The words are getting harder and it really helps when the children practise in the week.

Have a lovely week.

Kind regards

The Year 1 Team
