Art Club
Art and Craft Club at our school allows children to explore, create and design, whilst building on skills, ideas and imagination. Activities are chosen based on themes, prior learning, in discussion with children and seasonal festivals and change.
Harvest Apples
Visual discussion about apples, We ate an apple and discussed the shapes, sizes and colours. Then we created the apples below using card, pencils, lolly sticks and paper.
We photographed Autumn trees in our school grounds. We used the images to talk about season change and colours. The activity focussed on creating a collage of autumns tree using paper card and paint. We used cotton tips to paint leaves in the style of 'Pointillism'.
Clay Hedgehogs
Stained Glass Window Pumpkins
We looked examples of stained-glass windows and discussed how the glass is cut and shaped. Our pumpkins were created with black card to create a lead-like frame and details. Characterisation, came from real pumpkins that had been carved.
Melting Snowmen

Valentine Day Process Art
This art work was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky. Hearts instead of circles! The children painted each section of their paper with a shade of pink, red or purple. Each time they painted the changed the hue by adding more white. then using heart-shaped card, layers of hearts were added for shape and texture.
Collaborative draw
We all worked together to produce this artwork on a large scale. We learned how to have joint ownership by swapping position on the carpet often, so that we could build on each others ideas and see where they take us.
