We had visitors to our school this week in Year 1 and 2. Year 1 children had a visit from Meon Valley Heart Start who taught the children what to do in a first aid emergency. Year 2 had a visit from the Fire Service to find out what to do in a fire emergency. All our children were really sensible and had fantastic ideas as they were learning!

Thank you to all the Year 2 parents who have stepped forward to help on our Year 2 trip. Our doors are open again to volunteers, and there is information on this month's newsletter on what you can do to help in school.

We held our Open Morning on Wednesday, and it was attended by nearly 50 families. It was lovely to see so many new faces! We have a few more dates in November that prospective parents can look around, so if you know of anybody who have never visited the school before, then please tell them to telephone the school office to make an appointment.

    Best wishes

  • PTA MEETING

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

We had our first PTA meeting of the year last night, where we said goodbye to Cathy Wilkinson and other PTA members, as their children are now at the juniors. Cathy has been a super Chair for three years in very challenging times. She never had a full 'normal' year of events and to think of the length of time we have been disrupted from normality, really brought it home to us last night. We would all like to thank Cathy for her time as chair, particularly her positivity and 'can do' approach, even during our tough times. Thank you so much!

We have a new chair, Sheree- Lee Fox, who has a daughter in Year R. We will be meeting to look at events for this term, so watch this space.

A really good point was brought up by one of our parents at the meeting regarding volunteering. Now we are open to volunteers at school, we welcome anybody who can give some time. The process is really simple. We start a DBS form as part of our safeguarding checks and there are safeguarding policies that everyone needs to read before coming into schools. You will then be guided by staff to support where needed (reading, library, craft and more). If this sounds lie something you would be interested in, please let your child's classteacher know.

We hope you have a lovely weekend

    Best wishes

  • IMPORTANT. Monday 19th September the School will be closed

    Mon 12 Sep 2022

I am sure many of you have seen by now that schools and colleges will be closed on Monday 19th September as there is a national bank holiday for the state funeral of the Queen.

Here is the message from the Department of Education to schools:

"Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the Sovereign.

Guidance providing the public, businesses and institutions with advice on the period of National Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been issued by the Cabinet Office.

The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges."

  • Welcome Back

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to our Autumn Term. When we opened our doors on Monday, none of us could predict how the week would end. We held a special assembly for Year 1 and 2 children today in memory of Queen Elizabeth. I know some of our children were very sad coming into school today and lots of questions were asked. We will continue to guide and support our children through the coming few weeks.

Our Year 2 children finished their Road Safety practical lessons this week, and their certificates will be coming home soon. Thank you to Miss Apsey, our Year 2 Leader, and her team for the organisation and participation in this life skill.

Year 1 are enjoying playing on the ‘big’ playground all the time and have had an exciting week catching up with their friends and choosing their classroom areas. Mrs Moth, our Year 1 Leader, has enjoyed getting to know the Year 1 children whilst welcoming Miss Beckley to the Year 1 team.

Our new Year R children have been getting used to school and making new friends. It was lovely getting to know some of  the new parents who stayed for a coffee on the first day back. Miss Turner, our Year R Leader, said everyone in her team are looking forward to all the children staying all day on Monday.

I hope you all have a restful weekend, and have my fingers crossed that the rain will stop for us to enjoy the last little bit of summer.

    Best wishes
