    Welcome Back Everybody!

It has been lovely to be back in school this week and the children were very excited to tell us all about the busy Easter bunny that visited the houses in the holiday. Each year group have started their new projects, and project leaflets and bookmarks should be on their way to you, as well as the regular weekly updates from the Year Team.

    Lunch Menus

Our lunch menus changed this week. Mrs Greenwood sent an email out about the changes, and the new menus can be found on our website here:

    https://www.bwis.org.uk/school-menus/

Year 2 SATs and Year 1 Phonics

There was good attendance at our Year 2 SATs talk with Miss Apsey. Please come and talk to us if you have any further questions. This year's SATs for Year 2 are in May and all leave requests for Year 2 absence will not be allowed. Our Year 1 children will be taking their statutory phonics test in June, and any also Year 2 retakes will happen then. Again, any leave requests for children taking statutory tests will be turned down.

We also need lots and lots of helpers to set up and run stalls. At the moment we have 5 names for a lot of stalls. If you, or any grandparent/friend would like to give some of your time please email the school office and give your names. We will then allocate you a role and a time for the day(if you let us know if you would prefer set up/running stall, this would help). We need 3 people to run our BBQ. If this is a particular specialism of yours, please can you come and help? If you can face paint of are really good at glitter tattoos, we would also appreciate your help. The success of the event really depends on everybody helping to make it lovely for the children so please come and volunteer.

    Royal Coronation Celebration

We will be celebrating the King's coronation in style this year with a picnic fit for a king. We will also be learning all about the coronation, and making the day special and memorable for the children. The details are below:

    Where: BWIS

    When: Friday 5th May

Food: Our lunch on the day will be picnic lunches, hopefully outside, provided by HC3S. If you would like your child to bring their own picnic lunch instead, please do. Dress Code: We will be designing and making crowns in school, but you are welcome to bring in a crown from home, if you wish. The dress code is 'Royal' -so we look forward to seeing lots of princes, princesses, kings and queens for the day. (no school uniform day).

Please also remember to upload your portraits to the 'Children in Need 'Site (details found on previous 'Latest News' updates).

    Industrial Action

There are two further days of NEU Industrial Action planned. The teachers have let me know in advance of their intentions, which I am very grateful for, in order to let you know. An email will be sent out today. Please look for it in your inbox.

    Bishops Waltham's Clubs for Children

As you know, we have a range of popular clubs for children at our school. CM Sports run our after school club, and also our football club, we also have Dance Kids and Taekwondo at our school too.

In the community of Bishops Waltham and surrounding areas, we have many excellent clubs. We have the excellent Dynamos Football Club at Priory Park for all aged children (which I see many parents at from our school),  BW Cubs and Beavers, Roynon's Performing Arts, Swanmore Activeme 360 Holiday clubs and many more. Over the next few weeks we will be developing our 'Community' section for clubs to advertise to our parents and children, so we can signpost everybody to the right page. If you are a club leader, or your child goes to the club, please can you send us the information and website so that our parents can be informed of clubs they can join.

Lastly, we have a number of surplus Year 1/R tables and chairs available free to parents/community. They are currently near our PTA shed. If you would like to take any home for your children to use, please come to the school during school hours and help yourselves.

    Lunchtime

During the week we celebrate children talking quietly and politely in the hall at lunchtimes with 'Quiet Table' awards. these are trophies that sit on the table and are given out by the lunchtime team. The team also invites one member of each class to sit on the 'Golden' table on Fridays. These are children who have displayed our Badger Values all lunchtime. We also have lots of games and items to play with outside during lunch. If you would like to come and be part of our friendly lunchtime team, we are advertising for a position. Please pick up an application form from our school office.

Wishing you a lovely weekend-fingers crossed the rain eases off!

    Best wishes
