  • Our Sponsored Walk

    Wed 23 Jun 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

What a lovely day to walk a mile with a smile! Our children were fantastic and cheerful faces all round! We don't know how we have raised yet, as we still have sponsorship coming in, but fingers crossed we will be able to buy our book sheds very soon!

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best wishes

  • Consultations In Hampshire

    Thu 17 Jun 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

Today we received an email from the school nursing team, informing us of proposed cuts to their services. Since I became a headteacher in 2009, I have witnessed to service becoming cut to what we thought was already the minimum.

If you would like to have your say on this, and other consultations on spending in Hampshire County Council at the moment, please click on the link below. As Hampshire residents, your views matter!

  • Event Changes and a Catch Up

    Tue 15 Jun 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

We have sent an email today, detailing the changes we have had to make to events following the government announcement of the 4 week covid delay yesterday evening. the letter can also be found on our parent information section here:

     https://www.bwis.org.uk/information-letterspamphlets/

Thank you to all the Year 1 parents who helped us get the children from the stuck coach, and for waiting so patiently in the playground. Our first trip out, and we got stuck at the end. The children were expert geographers when they came back and know lots of physical and human features of the seaside!

Fox Class and Hedgehog Class had a brilliant time swimming last week. All adults and children had the biggest beaming smiles at the end of the sessions. We look forward to Frog Class starting their sessions this week. Please can you practise changing and towel wiping if your child finds this tricky. Please do not put your child in tight tracksuit bottoms or leggings on swimming day, as some of the children who wore these garments found it trickier to get dressed again after being in the pool.

We have organised a 'sponsored walk' next week to raise money for some outside book huts for children to use when outside. If we raise enough, we would also like to have some multiuse roleplay buildings that we can turn into different things, such as a cafe counter, bird hideout, shop etc. We are aiming to put one of each in the Early Years Area and one on the bigger playground, reinforcing our philosophy of learning through play for all aged children. Our walk will be a mile long and we have an exciting route planned. Sponsor forms will be going home today and payments can be made through scopay.

    Best wishes

  • Welcome Back

    Tue 08 Jun 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back and we hope you had a lovely half term break. As I am writing this, my telephone has just pinged with a message from Year 1 teachers saying they are just getting back on the coach after a fabulous trip-they certainly had the sunshine for it today!

Our class photos were delivered this afternoon and will be coming home today/tomorrow. There is an ordering slip coming home with the information on how to order on it, and the photo will be in the class window for you to see without proof marks on it.

Year 2 start swimming this week. Please look in your booklet regarding the date your child is swimming. Thursday is still PE day too, so children in Year 2 will need to come in PE clothes on this day. Swimming hats, no goggles, no earrings and swim trunks (not bermuda shorts) are in the Hampshire policy, which we adhere to; all this information is in the swim booklet. Our teachers went on their training in May to update their skills. We are sure the children will have a great time. Please make sure that outstanding contributions are paid into the office asap.

Please look at our May newsletter for our summer term dates. Some events are penciled in and weather dependent. We are hoping that we will be able to take part in all of them, including our sponsored walk to raise money for our outdoor book huts in Year R and Year 1, which we would like to buy this term. We have lots and lot of ideas to further enhance our outdoor learning space, including a reflection area, a sensory area, our pond, more statues, gazing balls etc. We know that Rome cannot be built in a day, and if anyone wants to help/ contribute we would be very grateful.

We are all very happy to see Mrs Wombell back today too. She will be teaching in Hedgehog class one day a week until the end of term. The children were very excited to see her!

Let's all hope we keep all bubbles in school for the last part of the school year. Please continue to be vigilant when out and about, with handwashing and mixing with family and friends, as there are a few positive cases in the local area at the moment.

    Best wishes

    Mrs Riches
