  • Our Wishes for the World in 2023

Fri 16 Dec 2022 Mrs Riches

We held our special Wishing Assembly at the end of our last day of term. We sang carols together and read each class’s wish for the world in 2023. Following each reading we had a reflection time where we lit our wishing candles.

The children’s wishes were thoughtful and reflective, highlighting what is important for them, but also showing insight into their view of the wider world around them. I am sharing them below for all parents to see and celebrate how proud we are of the pupils in our school.

With each passing year I, like many of you, hold Christmas memories with my family and friends close to my heart. I hope you all have a special time making your memories with loved ones this year.

Wishing you all a magical Christmas

    Best Wishes

    Mrs Riches

  • Help for Families

    Fri 16 Dec 2022

Hampshire County Council is using its Household Support Funding from the Government to provide a range of support between now and March next year, that will help vulnerable households with the costs of food, energy and other essentials. As well as discretionary grant funding that has been awarded to schools, colleges and early years settings to help families facing hardship, we are also working with community groups, local councils and other organisations to provide the following support:

    • Help with energy costs – local Citizens Advice services are supporting eligible households with the costs of gas, water and / or electricity bills. Households who qualify for support can contact their local Citizens Advice directly.
    • Help with food costs – there are 19 Community Pantries across Hampshire which provide food at a lower cost than supermarkets, in exchange for a small membership fee.
    • Food vouchers – food vouchers will be available to households who receive council tax support, and households who receive housing benefit. These will be distributed by local district and borough councils in the coming months. Those who are eligible don’t need to do anything – they will be contacted by their local council.
    • Housing costs – local district and borough councils can provide support for housing costs in exceptional circumstances. Residents are asked to contact their local council if they think they may be eligible for emergency support.

All of this is in addition to the Holiday Activities and Food programme, which will be providing more than 120 free schemes this Christmas for children who receive income-based free school meals during term time. Parents and carers wishing to find out what is on offer in their area should search the Family Information and Services Hub and contact their local providers directly to sign up to schemes.

    Dear Parents and Carers

What a joy it has been for the teachers to teach your children this term. They are so keen to learn and impress us with the knowledge and skills they have learned. They are a real credit to you all.

A huge thank you to Emma Cowan for donating the Christmas Tree outside and decorating it so beautifully. Emma and Laura Edwards have been our special Santa Helpers for many years and do a fantastic job every year for us.

We have had an exciting week this week with our performances, Christmas lunch, our parties and even a visit from Santa himself. The children are all ready for Christmas and will be bringing their Christmas crafts home. If your child isn't in today, please can you try and organise another parent to pick up any bits and bobs, if you cannot make it in.

We made a little video of Year 1 angels. They looked so beautiful on the display. Please click the link below to see them in their heavenly display.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and we will see you in 2023!

    Best wishes

    Dear Parents and Carers

This week has been a very busy one in school. The children had lots of fun Christmas shopping on Tuesday. There is lots of rehearsing and singing all around our school ready for our performances next week. We know lots of parents are very excited for the performances and it will be the first one for many parents. Each family should have received 2 tickets for their performance. The performance is for 12 years and above. We have have a creche for children who are junior age and younger, and parents will need to book a place in there/make other arrangements for them. The children are very excited to perform to you all! Following the performance we make a collection which goes to replenishing costumes and our local chosen Christmas Children's Charity. This year it will be Naomi House.

We have sent out FAQ sheets regarding the rise in scarlet fever. Please be vigilant in checking your child, and refer to the sheets if you suspect your child is poorly. There are quite a few nasty flu-like bugs going around, and I was laid low myself with a high temperature. Wrap up warm and take care!

Our Christmas party day is on Wednesday, so please can your children wear party clothes (sensible shoes and warm coats are a must for playtimes). We will be having Christmas Lunch and party games and hope for a visit from the big man in red!

We will have our annual Christmas Jumper/dress down day on Friday 16th December. Any donations brought in will go to Naomi House, who have supported many of our families in school over the years.

Our PTA have been very busy collecting for our Christmas Raffle and we have loads of lovely gifts to be won. We will call the raffle on the morning of the last performance, and inform all winners promptly.  Well done to everyone involved in the selling of the tickets and collating the prizes. All monies raised are going towards our new Reflection Area/Outside Learning space. We are currently in the process of finding quotes for developing the space in our school grounds.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and are enjoying the countdown to Christmas.

    Best wishes

    Mrs Riches
