  🌞 We can’t believe how quickly this half term has flown by!
  The summer sunshine has brought smiles and lots of outdoor learning opportunities. It’s been wonderful to see the children enjoying our beautiful school grounds while learning and exploring together.

   

  🎉 Farewell and Welcome – Chair of Governors
  We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mr Brownlie, who has served as a governor at BWIS for the past 8 years. His dedication and guidance have been truly appreciated by the whole school community.
  We’re also excited to welcome Mr Denman, who has been unanimously voted as our new Chair of Governors. We look forward to working with him in the months ahead!

   

  🧁 A Sweet Thank You
  A big thank you to our amazing PTA for organising this week’s cake sale and for all their hard work throughout this busy half term of events. We really appreciate your support!

   

  👚 Uniform Donations Available
  Looking for a spare summer dress or cardigan? We have several pre-loved uniform items available for a small donation. Please pop by the school office if you'd like to have a look.

• Weekly Update-Week ending 16th May

  Please find our update a little later than usual this week. I really want to shine the spotlight on our amazing PTA. They have been truly remarkable in organising 2 fantastic fundraising events for our school, a week apart. Both events required a lot of planning and organising prior to the event itself, and both deserve to be celebrated.

   

  ❓Quiznight 2025

  What a great evening. In the end we had some last minute entries, and our hall was packed. Quizmaster Andy, kept us all busy with rounds about general knowledge, emojis, pictures, music-you name it, we had it all. The bar kept flowing and there were a lot of corks popping! The food was catered for by Cleverchefs, and nobody went hungry. I never found out if our band of merry parents worked out where they were continuing the party afterwards, and apart from a slight mixup, where we locked the PTA in the car park (oops!), the night was a fantastic success. Thank you to all the PTA and staff who helped to clean up afterwards too-the mucky job that nobody likes!

  The winners of the quiz were 'Quizzy Whizzy, let's get Busy', who had a very impressive lead-huge congratulations to them and to everyone who took part too. Remember to book your tickets early next year-it is one to put on the calendar!

   

  🎪Summer Fayre 2025

  What a glorious day we had for our summer fayre this year. Everyone had the biggest smiles, whether they were having their face/hair done, crafting something, shooting for goal or hooking a duck. Some of our Year 2 children performed their ceilidh dance and we also had some dance performances from our after school club. We raised a very impressive £2200 towards our learning suite, and we cannot wait for it to be installed. Again, so much work went into the organising of this event. Extra parents, staff, governors, pre-school and sports groups supported on the day, too. It was a fantastic community event , primarily led by Claire, Kath, Baz and Andy. We are so grateful and lucky to have you on board, making memorable experiences for our children and parents. We would like to say a HUGE THANKYOU, for everything you do, and know that the majority of our parents and grandparents who attend the events feel the same way as us too.

   

  🍰After School Cake Sale

  On Wednesday 21st May, we will be having a cake sale in the turning circle, to sell all left over goodies from the Fayre. Please see the PTA email about what else will be on sale, and our selaed bids for three fantastic trip experiences

  What a lovely week we’ve had here at school!

   

  VE Day Street Party
  We finished the week in style with a fabulous VE Day street party yesterday, on the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. The children absolutely loved dining outdoors with their friends, and it was wonderful to see everyone joining in with the celebrations. Head over to the earlier post on  ‘Latest News’ section on our website to see some brilliant photos from the day!

   

  🧑‍🏫 Governor Meeting
  This week, we also held a governor meeting where we agreed on the school budget for the year. The governors asked thoughtful questions about our spending and were very complimentary about the careful and diligent planning that goes into managing the school’s finances.

   

  🎪 Summer Fayre – Just One Week to Go!
  Our Summer Fayre is fast approaching – just one week to go! A huge thank you to our amazing PTA, who are working incredibly hard to make this year’s event a fantastic success.
  Thank you to everyone who has already sent in chocolate and bottle donations – your support is hugely appreciated!

   

  🌈 What’s Happening at the Fayre?

  • Exciting stalls for children and adults

  • A sizzling BBQ

  • Plenty of yummy treats

  • PTA tokens are now on sale and can be used at all stalls on the day!

   

  🍰 Next Friday – Cake Donation Day & Non-Uniform!
  Next Friday is our Cake Donation Day, and children can come to school in non-uniform in exchange for a cake donation. We know this is our third non-uniform day recently, but these days are a great way to prompt donations and really help us build a successful event. Thank you for your continued support!

   

  ❓ PTA Quiz Night – Let’s Get Quizzical!
  We’re rounding off the week with our much-loved PTA Quiz Night this evening. The brilliant Andy will be back as our quizmaster, and we’ll have some fun interval games (£1 a go) to enjoy. We can’t wait to see you there!

• VE 80 Day at BWIS

  Our children celebrated VE 80th anniversary in style with a special street party outdoors. Our theme was 'Red, White and Blue', our music was Glenn Miller, and the sun came out to shine on us. It was a memorable special day for all of us and our whole staff celebrated with them too. Thank you to Clever Chefs and our kitchen staff for preparing the yummy lunch. It went down very well! Here are some pictures of our special day.

  🌞 What lovely sunshine we've had this week! The children have made the most of the weather, enjoying lots of outdoor learning linked to their projects 🌼🖌️.

   

  • Year 1 have been busy painting beautiful meadow pictures full of colourful flowers using watercolours 🎨🌷.

  • Year R explored the work of Andy Goldsworthy and created wonderful natural sculptures using found objects – a brilliant activity to try on a pebbled beach! 🍂🪨🌊

  • Year 2 have written descriptive minibeast poems, using amazing adjectives and phrases 🐞✍️ – we’re very proud of their creativity!

   

  🧑‍🎨 PTA News & Volunteers Needed!

  Our amazing PTA are hard at work preparing for our Quiz Night 🧠❓ and the exciting Summer Fayre 🎉.

   

  ➡️ They are looking for face painters 🎨 (just short stints!) and more volunteers to help on stalls – every little helps!

  ➡️ Tokens will be sold in advance as well as on the day– please keep an eye out for the PTA team selling them 👀💰.

  🎁 Thank you for today’s bottle donations in exchange for wearing non-uniform!
  If you forgot – no worries! Please bring your bottle to the office next week.

  🔔 Reminder: Every Friday will be non-uniform in exchange for donations.

   

  👣 Socks with sandals, please! For safety on the playground, all children should wear socks with sandals to protect their toes 💙🧦. On the subject of socks,  our stock of spare socks, knickers, and pants is running low. If any families can donate clean spares, we’d be very grateful!

   

   80th VE Day Street Party 
  We’re looking forward to our VE Celebration on VE Day, with a red, white, and blue theme 🎈🎉. There will be a special party lunch too! Please see the poster earlier on the latest news for the lunch.

   

  📝 Quiz Night Friday 9th May
  Teams are being finalised and food/drink is being ordered – please let Andy or Claire know by Tuesday if you’re entering a team.
  📣 It doesn’t have to be 8 people – smaller teams are welcome!

   

  🚫 Ant Alert!
  We've found ants in some classrooms due to squash in drink bottles!
  Please ensure your child only brings water in their bottle 💧.
  They may bring a sealed carton of juice/non fizzy drink for lunch if they would like to drink something flavoured in the day– clearly named and ant-proof please! 🐜
